Hi Guys,

Is there any way I can use my external hard drive as my music collection network' automatically through my MBP ? So, therefore I don't have to drag and drop my entire collections and waste more disk space of my internal hard drive.

Thanks,
Alex

You can drag your iTunes folder to the external. Then next time you open iTunes simply hold OPTION to choose the library back from the external. You should then be able to delete the version on your internal drive. Drag it to the Trash at first and leave it there without emptying, as the system will then lose access to it but you'll be able to recover it if this didn't go to plan. :)

Saw this post and am planning to do the same thing, sorta. I want to put my iTunes library on my external HDD with most songs in apple's lossless format, then reimport as mp3's into my MBP's HDD. I'm hoping this will free a lot of space on the MBP, yet maintain the quality for my home system. Should this work OK? Anything to look out for while trying this?
