How to make @ sign in DE keyboard settings with US keyboard in Recovery Mode?

Hi all
I am reinstalling an older iMac and booted into Recovery Mode. I am re-installing MacOS and it's asking for me to log into iCloud. I want to type in my email and need to make an @ sign. I have a US keyboard attached and for some reason the iMac has German keyboard settings enabled.

How do I type a @ sign on the US keyboard - or - how do I change the keyboard settings in Recovery Mode? I have the system language as English but I still can't find keyboard settings anywhere.

I've tried alt+2, alt+ctrl+2, etc... any help appreciated!

Shift 2

or ALT L if it's the German keyboard setting.

Thanks - didn't work for me but was able to get it to work when I changed the keyboard settings - found it in the upper right hand corner!
