I keep coming up with problems. Obviously it’s user error but the last few times I’ve posted about my frustrations I get zero response. I think because so few people use the iPod like I do. I don’t like using iCloud. I want ALL of my music downloaded to my iPod touch. I never stream from it. A couple of days ago I updated a playlist and noticed several items were greyed out. It says theyre unavailable if I’m not using wifi. ARGH!! I don’t see an option to detest this or to make sure the songs I BOUGHT a downloaded yo my touch. Tips please.

Funny. I'm an audience of one on this. Anyone know how to just DOWNLOAD your music and not use wifi for the cloud??

You're syncing tracks from your computer to the iPod Touch using iTunes or the Music app? If so, go to iTunes (or the Music app) on your computer and find one of the tracks that was greyed-out on your iPod Touch. Click on the track to select it, then right-click and select Get-Info. Click the File tab in the pop-up and look at the line that says kind. If you see the word protected on that line, then the track is Digital Rights Management (DRM) protected, and your iPod wants to connect to Apple's servers to verify that you have permission to play it. This happens even though the file is stored on your iPod, and after a successful check the track will be played from your iPod (not streamed from iCloud). So, the iPod needs to be connected to the internet (and be signed-in to the iTunes store) for the DRM check to happen.

OK. Thank you. But I've done that a few times, but I have SO MUCH MUSIC I've uploaded from CDs. Ive seen where Apple just deleted my music. WTF? I might be spending hours upon hour individually getting info on my tracks. Ad believe me, I'm a writer andf a songwriter. I believe in protecting the rights of those who own the music - especially the artist, but also anyone who BUYS the music. But Apple has no right to delete music - or to hide music. Thanks.

Do you use Apple Music or have you used iTunes Match?
No. I almost NEVER use Apple Music - if by that you mean the streaming service? I don't know what iTunes Match is. I use the iTunes store. I have homepods my wife uses. But my iPod isn't set up to use it.

Do you subscribe to Apple Music?
Regardless of whether you almost never use it?

Well damn it. I'm having a hard time finding the store. Apple Music was iTunes. I only use that to purchase music, to audition what I want to purchase or to play my library. I'm new to Sequoia and my new Mac Studio. I launched it for the first time to buy an album but I can't find the store. Only an invitation to Apple Music. So no. I don't WANT Apple Music streaming. I want to BUY my music an put my purchases on my iPod. Not iCloud.

In the Music.app menu bar, click Music and select Settings. In the General tab next to Show, make sure that iTunes Store is checked. Uncheck Apple Music if you're not interested in that. Click OK. You should now see iTunes Store in the left part of the Music.app window, and when you click on that it should take you to the store.
