Hi, could someone advice how I can transfer/migrate an an old 2008 mbp, 10.5.8 to a early 2013 mbp running Maverick?

I bought a thunderbolt to ethernet adapter, tried everything, connect directly, put the old one in target mode, nothing. i also tried to link them indirectly using a router...nothing. I turned off wireless, used the same mask, changed ip to be close to one another. I googled and tried most of the solutions suggested on the net but in vain, the new computer doesn't see the old one. The old one does see the share drive on the new one and can access it read/write.

Does anyone else have a suggestion? Other than trying external drives, time machine.

Thanks,
George

Make a Time Machine backup of the old computer, allow new computer to migrate from it. Sorry but an external drive is pretty handy, and if you're not making backups then your data can't be that important.

If it's not much data try syncing it to DropBox or Skydrive.
