How to Mount Virtual CD Drive and burn to it?

Is there a way to mount a virtual CD drive and burn to it from iTunes playlists, without buying 3rd party software. I.e, is it just a matter of partitioning some space and running a few commands from Terminal?

If it's possible, can someone point me in the right direction. Thanks in advance.
