I recently decided to start using my iCloud email address as my main address, I have started to forward all emails from my gmail to my iCloud and going into all my accounts that use my gmail and switching to my iCloud, I know it will take a long time to switch all my accounts that use gmail, but its not a big deal for me.

what I want to do is move over all my emails I have saved in my gmail to my iCloud, what is the best way to do that?
is there a way in gmail to export all emails then to import them into iCloud? in the mail app on my Mac, can I just drag and drop all the folders into my iCloud account?

thanks,

I wanted to do the same a few times ago, I connected my gmail account to Apple Mail on Mac (not iOS). From there, I selected all the emails from my old account and dragged and dropped them in the folders of my iCloud account. It took a few minutes to transfer but it worked pretty well. Maybe there is a more official or convenient solution, but drag and drop on Apple Mail macOS worked fine for me
