i deleted my time machine backup folder from an external hdd, and i realised that it can't be deleted via finder as emptying the trash will be stuck at the "preparing to empty the trash" message.

now that i try to drag and drop the backup folder back into the drive, it tells me that there is not enough space to do so. that's because trash is copying the files instead of moving them, essentially doubling the amount of space needed by those files.

is there a way to move the files from the trash so that it actually moves files and not copy them?
