How to only backup messages on icloud?

I have a limited space (5gb) on my icloud between my two devices and I only really want to sync/backup the messages on my iphone 6. When I go to manage my storage and select what apps to sync, I turn everything off and its still 3gb...why is that and how can I just sync my messages on icloud and nothing else?

Try deleting your existing iCloud backups and start over.

you need to delete the old back up file and start new
