How to open a .uP file?

I need help trying to open this .uP file. The company that sent it to me claimed it was a .zip file but from what I can see it isn't. If anyone has heard of this or can help me out I would appreciate it. Thanks

edit: i've tried to open it with: MS frontpage, preview, illustrator, MS word, adobe reader but i just get random characters

Try manually changing the file extension to .zip and then opening it.

This doesn't seem to say it's a zip file at all. In fact it's pretty vague as to what it really is.
