how do you people do it . Because now torrent file goes to downloads folder and from there i have to double click to get the program to start downloading.
Is there a way to open the torrent link straight to transmission. Web browser is safari if that makes any difference . thx

You can set Transmission to automatically look for torrent files in the folder of your choice. See the preferences.

if you use a certain well known website you can use Magnet links instead. These open the client automatically and do not download a file.

I think it's a browser setting. I use Firefox and when I download a .torrent file it is automatically opened in Transmission. I don't remember how I got it to work that way but I do notice that in Firefox Preferences->Applications there are entries for .torrent files (although they say "always ask" and I don't seem to get asked for some reason, hmmmm.)

When I click on the link, it prompts me to either Open With *Application*, or to Save file.

If I click on Open With, it just opens it with Transmission (Although it still has to download first).

Depending on the torrent program you use, you can either use the magnet link or set it to look for torrents in the downloads folder (or another folder you have created)

You can set Transmission to "watch" for torrents in a specific folder. Set it to watch for them in your Downloads folders.

Or, if you were to use Firefox, you'd INSTEAD set Firefox to simply open .torrent files in Transmission.
