Hi

Anyone out here know how to view the SMS'es on an iPhone from the backup copy that iTunes makes?

I lost my iPhone but there's some really important data on an SMS thread that I need, and I need it urgently. I backup my iPhone regularly, and I remember doing so just before I lost the phone, so the data should be there.

Anyone can help?

No need to buy anything.

See my post here:

I was talking about how to get contacts off, but the links I used show how to get SMS off.

Aggie,

It seems the apps only work on jailbroken iPhones.

DiskAid doesn't even work without an iPhone plugged in (which I don't have right now).

Any other ideas? I can only use the data from the backup.

No, they work on any phone. And if you read my thread, I said you don't need DiskAid if you have the backup on a computer.

FYI, I've used these programs and I'm not jailbroke, just so you know. I'm thinking you just scanned through the thread and didn't really follow the steps.

Hi Aggie,

I think I found the problem. My backup is encrypted. I tried it with a friend's iPhone, which was unencrypted, and it worked.

Sooo... anyone know how to decrypt an encrypted backup?

Just in case anyone's interested...
