I like to get one of these adaptors because that way I can carry one cable to rule all my gear. How do I get one in the U.S.?

Simply do a google search and you will find plenty of purchase options, top one being Amazon.
 
I got mine from Amazon for less than a dollar shipped, of course Im in the US. it'll probably be a few dollars more for UK shipping. They are not authentic, but for the price, I could buy 6 or seven of them compared to the authentic apple ones, that are made in china anyways :p

Check the HongKong sellers on ebay too, they may have them cheaper, if you can wait two weeks.
