How to partition disk

I'm trying to partition my iMacs hard drive, its currently partitioned 579GB (Leopard) 16GB (Windows/Bootcamp).
When I add another partition via Disk Util it will only let me create a Mac OS X Extended Journaled and it also says:

"This disk appears to be partitioned for Boot Camp. Changing the partition map may make this disk unbootable using Windows."

Is it safe to ignore this message?
