How to pause/stop Music from top of notification screen

With Catalina, if I 'swiped in from the right' to see the notification column, at the top I would see whatever music was playing - along with var-type controls to pause, stop etc. Now with Big Sur, it just shows the song playing, no controls, and if I click on it, it brings the music up.

Are the vcr controls lost there or am I missing it through a setting? That was really convenient.

EDIT/UPDATE: Never mind - it is on the menu bar now, configurable through the System Preferences.
