I have QT Pro and I love its "save as Reference movie" option. I can easily cut out unwanted parts of a movie (which I dont want to see with the kids) without any need of re-writing the whole movie and still have the original version intact.

Now these movies work fine when I open them from my MacBook(all the videos are stored in external HDDs connected to the MacBook). Now i have this Mac connected via LAN to an XP MCE HTPC. I used SharePoints to allow access to MacBook Hard drives from the MCE PC. Now every other file/video plays fine on the MCE PC except for the ones which are reference movie links saved from QT on the MacBook. I`ve tried QT,VLC,WMP,MediaPlayerClassic on the PC but all of them give some error or the other. I guess they cant find out where the original file is.

So is it possible to play these files on the XP computer?? Is there some sort of workaround possible. I only have QT Pro on my MacBook. Do I need to have QT Pro on the PC too? I seriously dont want to pay another 30$ for it. Please tell if there is a way out.

BTW I m a little confused if this is the right forum for this query. Mods please move the thread if you feel otherwise.
