how to play songs from Ipad4 through a stereo or soundsystem?

Hi....I am not really tech savvy but I have to use Ipad4. Just now was trying to play songs from Ipad4 through a sound system which supported ipod, iphone, usb. is there any setting or cable that I have to use to connect because I was using the normal charger cable and it is not supported. please I need help but not to be condemn. thanks.

What brand/model of A/V Receiver (I'm assuming its a receiver) that you are connecting the iPad to?

I play my songs via bluetooth to my Bose, works great. I can also bluetooth to my Samsung sound bar as well. There are many options if you have bluetooth installed.
