Ok so I had my old graduation video and my cousin who is a long time mac user went ahead and used disk utility to get the graduation video and put it on my computer. I dont know what he did still new to mac, Now I would like to be able to play it when I open it up it keeps saying its not a video file what can I do now
 
What does the file icon look like? Like this?

If it was made in the way it sounds like it was, after double-clicking on the .dmg file in Finder, an icon of a white disk will appear on your desktop. Once its appeared there, you ought to be able to just launch the DVD Player application and your computer will act as if the original DVD is inserted in the computer and begin playback. When you're done, drag the white disk icon to the trash (not the .dmg) and you're done.

I used quicktime to play it and it says that it is not a dvd file when infact it is
