How to port forward on Leopard? Bittorrent issues

I know Apple has changed the security setttings but I can't figure out how to forward ports. Do I have to do it through my router settings? Does this mean if I forward a port through the router I will have to make my mac a static IP?

I can't connect to anyone through Azureus, Anyone know how I can open connection without compromising too much security?
