Hi,

I am planning on getting a 4k display and saw Kanex has a USB-C to 4k monitor cable. Not sure if it supports true 4k but the Apple multiport tops out at 3840 on hdmi. If this or other new USC-C to 4k cables support 4k resolution how does one power the Macbook 12 while it is plugged into 4k monitor.

Anker is making usb-c hub that includes 2 usb-c ports and a couple of usb 3 ports. Will this be the answer?
Thanks.

You might as well just use the Apple digital adapter and use an HDMI cable because that supports 4k@30hz which is the maximum that the MacBook can drive.

I'll tell you that it works, but it's not an optimum experience and you may be happier with a lower resolution monitor.
