How to pre-order 2 phones while switching from ATT to VZW?

My wife and I both plan on switching from ATT to VZW, we tried pre-ordering 2 iPhone 5's at the same time, and got that "only 1 carrier activated phone per order" error.

So I ordered mine first, and my wife's second in a totally separate order.

Once we have the phones in hand, will it be relatively easy to set one phone up as the primary and activate the second phone as an added line on VZW? All this while porting our numbers over from ATT to VZW?

Figure 1 or 2 of you must know from experience. Appreciate it!

Weird, did you order from Apple or Verizon? I was able to preorder two phones and setup the shared plan all in one order directly from Verizon.

That might be the issue. I believe people have reported they were able to merge the two lines together once you recieve and activate the phones. Porting should be the same thing. I held off on porting til I actually have the phones in my hand. Didnt want any problems that could possibly put me without a cell phone and my number being in limbo.
