Has anyone tried to install macOS on an external drive (USB or TB3)? I mean a clean install without per-installed users or a clone from the internal drive. I tried but failed to do so. Installer is asking me for pw of already installed user, copies over all accounts but fails to make drive bootable in final step. Is there a way to perform a clean install on external drive the "regular" way and not via DFU mode? Thanks for help.
