I have one of the first generation Macbook Pros retina from 2012. About 1 year ago I accidentally spilt a drink in my bag while my laptop was there. When I realised, I turned everything off and left it to dry for about 3 days.

I turned it back on and there were some streaks along the screen, and the fans always seemed to be blowing on high setting. I got worried so I backed up my data and I bought a new laptop a week or two after. The old laptop has been lying in a drawer for 1 year and I think it is good time to sell it.

Now I formatted the hard drive, and it said it had some SMART error. I replaced the hard drive, reinstalled the OS. It seems to be working okay now. I have used the internet, youtube, connected bluetooth devices, used the camera, all the USB ports, HDMI port, headphone jack. And all seems to be working fine.

Is there some kind of stress test I can do for the laptop to check all the components are working?

Are you going to declare that the device suffered water damage to the potential buyers?

Not a physical test, just a moral one!

Yes of course, I will list the item as water damaged and with the streaks to the screen.

Honestly I think you are over thinking what you should be doing with it. You list it "as is with water damage" and see what someone is willing to pay for it. I would mention the things above that you said are working fine and that there are streaks on the screen from the damage and describe the liquid damage it incurred.

That's all you need to do in my opinion. Someone is more than likely going to be looking at buying it for parts or to see if they can repair it. Your MPB has permanent damage to it and trying to do a bunch of tests on it is pretty much meaningless at this point in my opinion.
