Hi,

I zeroed the drive on my old mac and sold it to get a new MBP. I have an iPhone 3GS that was synced to the old mac. I want to update the iOS on the 3GS and sync it to this new MBP.

How do I do so without losing my contact info, etc?

--I right clicked on the phone in iTunes and selected "backup," however, where is that backup stored? After some research here I read that I could find the iPhone backup here:

"Try here:
~Library/Applications Support/MobileSync/Backup"

But when I go to Library/Applications Support, there is no folder for MobileSync.--

Thanks!

You have to look in your user's library folder, not the root one.

Not: MacHD/Library/Application Support/MobileSync

But Rather: MacHD/Users/cblevins/Library/Application Support/MobileSync

whoops, found it. thanks. do you know how to proceed from here?

I'm not sure how to do it via the backup that iTunes makes. If you transfer the entire iTunes library to another computer though, and plug it in, the phone and iTunes won't know the difference. You can sync and backup just like you did before. I've done this many times because I've had to change computers a few times over the past couple of years.

I have my iTunes secure on the new computer. The only thing I'm afraid of losing in this process is all of my contact numbers, etc.
