How do I correctly using multiple desktops on multiple monitors on 2016 macbook pro Touch Bar , High Sierra ?
This used to work sorta for me. My new machine does not work.
Here is my working scenario. I want to sit at my desk and use multiple displays . Sometimes I want to move to a couch and use the MacBook by itself. Likewise if I travel I will not have my 2 extra thunderbolt monitors around.
So there are 3 permutations
A) MacBook by itself
B) MacBook display with 2 Thunderbolts Displays using a usb-c to thunderbolt monitor ***
C) MacBook display closed with 2 Thunderbolt displays — Most likely I would never this setup —
When you switch between permutations it does not work as advertised. The method to switch I use is sleep the system. Remove ore Replace the cable which connects to the other displays. This is optionally done closing the lid of the MacBook. Then wake the system.
After a lengthy time setup of C) I try to switch to mode A) All windows/apps appear on respective desktops. Then switching back to mode C) I get all apps/windows on correct destktop but wrong display monitor . They are probably the same as A) without using the extra displays . This is my problem.
I want the window/app layouts to display screen the to remain the same on the various display monitor configurations .
Does anyone know how I can achieve this. I am pretty sure this sorta worked for me in the past. I remember looking into an app called display maid. I’d much rather use a built in solution that just works.
*** Occasionally the system will crash with the thunderbolt connector in with 2 monitors and several disks and a Keyboard. This is annoying.
