Hello,

So I am currently wondering what is the best way to take care of the battery on my new 11 pro Max.

I am a bit worried because of my previous XS Max.

On the XS Max, I only used the supplied charger and cable.
I was always careful to plug he phone to charge when the battery was between 25-30% and always unplugged it when the charge reached 80-85%.
I never let it charge overnight or even after 85% charge was reached.

Even with these precautions, I got the XS Max in Late September with a battery health of 99% and sold it his month with 95%.
So the battery health on My XS Max dropped 4% in just 5 months!

I really don’t want sucinta rapid degradation to occur on the 11 pro Max, so I am wondering if I was doing something wrong and what would be the best way to baby my 11 pro Max.

Thank you,
Regards.

That just sounds like a lot of effort and having to needlessly worry.

I've had my X new from May 2018 and it's currently at 86% health, using either a 18w Blitzwolf charger or their 7.5w wireless charger. Leaving it plugged in most nights when I go to sleep, constantly throwing it on the wireless charger if at my desk no matter the percentage. Sometimes chew through the battery in one sitting, going from fully charged to under 10% if I get lost reading a book/manga, or down the rabbit hole of Reddit/YouTube/Instagram.

My point, don't worry about it, just use it. If I'm around a power source I like to top it up, if I randomly have to go somewhere I don't want to be caught out running out of battery. If it drops and no longer lasts you how it did, get the battery replaced.

Change it this year for the 12 and forget about it 😂

Enjoy the phone and that´s it... too many maths on how to charge it; degradation is something natural on a battery. The cost of the replacement is not so much if you have to do it once every 2 years, considering the cost of the phone.

I agree with the guys above. Just enjoy the phone, stop worrying about stuff that you have very little control over. Batteries degrade regardless of how you use them. You’ve got a great phone. Life is too short. Enjoy it.

Battery health is a major concern when you are using a laptop, not with phones. Considering the fact that on avg, you are definitely going to change your iPhone after 12 months use whereas laptops are not changed after 1 year.
If you are investing around 2000USD on laptop, you would love to use it for 4-5 years and that is where you must take care of 1000 battery cycles count.

Prevent? Not possible.
Reduce? You’re doing it.

There’s no problem running the battery down. The real concern about low voltage is below the low voltage protection cutoff. The phone takes care of that.

I do none of this and my max from launch is at 91%. I charge overnight and top off throughout the day if it’s dying.

Why even worry about something as trivial as this?

Did you notice the 4 ~ 5% degradation in daily phone use?

You need to get out. Smell the clean air. Take a walk. Ease your mind a bit.

Changing the phone yearly was not and is not the average anywhere except for some tech enthusiasts.

There is no right or wrong that anyone could prove with a realistic study that has thousands of samples to show the effects of certain “precautions “.

I’d stop worrying about the battery until it really doesn’t hold a charge.

While everyone else either said not to worry about the little things of that you’re taking all the necessary steps to reduce the degradation, I’d say the Battery Health indicator on the 11s is more accurate compared to the previous iPhones as they added some additional hardware too.

There’s a whole breakdown on apples website. Thoroughly explains what that battery health means. My 11 pro max was picked up on launch day. It just recently went to 99% health months later. The battery starts to degrade from the moment it’s assembled in the factory. I get almost 2 days battery. Just buy and enjoy.

It's a good thing people don't come with a gauge showing their % of life remaining, that would have people really worrying.
My friend, please use and enjoy your phone for as long as it lasts or until you replace it, chances are you'll be eyeing up a new model long before your Pro Max battery succumbs to age and usage.
Nobody on the Internet has any reliable advice on battery care, least of all the manufacturers whose interest is in selling new phones, I'm tolerably sure of that, and it's quite amusing how many conflicting theories are put about. Always charge to 100% says A, never charge above 80% says B, quick charging murders the battery, says C. We've not been hired to nurse batteries, we've paid to own and use phones and we should do just that.

The most likely reason for the decrease in Battery Health is heat, which is the worst thing for a battery and has made the most difference to the Battery Health in my phones.

Take it out of the case when charging, or go back to the 5W charger at home like I did. It added half an hour to charging from 40% to 80%, compared to the 12W charger I used before, but this extra time doesn't personally make any difference to me. Faster charging creates more heat, but do what suits you and cut the heat down.

Battery degradation is normal. It's part of the chemistry. I wouldn't worry too much other than not having your iPhone in extreme temperatures (be it hot or cold). Don't put your iPhone inside a locked car, for example. Extreme temperatures can do havoc on the battery chemistry.
