On Windows XP, all animated .gif pictures would automatically play/preview in explorer. I was wondering if Mac OSX has this feature? Also, every time I open a .gif, it doesnt play. It just gives me the layers. How do I get it to automatically play when I open it, without having to open it in a browser?

Thanks!

I don't think Finder can do what you ask. I started using Pathfinder, which is a Finder replacement. It will preview animated .gifs, not to mention many other things that make me like it much better than the standard Finder.

pathfinder? ill be interested to try it out...does pathfinder replace finder? or is it added to it?

Pathfinder doesn't remove the Finder but it can hide it if you want. Pathfinder is a separate program. You would click its icon instead of the Finder icon.

Leopard will have that feature, 'tis called Quick Look.

...or you could install Quicksilver, set a trigger in QS, and that will open Pathfinder with one keystroke, eg F2
