So, I've joined my home workgroup (I think?) and yet when I go to the 'network' tab in finder NOTHING shows up other than the 2 PC's whose IPs I added manually (so I could see their network drives).

I've searched and searched and cant for the life of me get this printer working.

It's a Dell 1700 printer connected to a networked XP machine, and all the PC's in my house can see/use it just fine, but for some reason on my MBP I cant at all.

Could someone please help me? I need to get this printer working for school ASAP!

Dell 1700 under Mac OS X Snow Leopard

After having install SL this weekend I ran into the same problem. A quick search on the net lead me to an easy solution.

As the 1700 is actually made by Lexmark you need to install their recent OS X drivers which have been updated for SL. Not sure which it corresponds to exactly (e330, e320, e332 ?) but I was able to get the printer working with the e330 driver.

Hope this helps.

Well I actually have the dell driver for it (found it a few days ago, forgot where) so one of the options for driver is actually "Dell 1700" now, but the problem is after I add it it just tells me "network busy, retrying in 10 seconds" and it just keeps looping forever.

I googled that error and found tons of other people with the same problem, but none of their fixes worked for me :/.
