Hello all,
I need help understanding on how to unlock my iphone. Long story short, I bought a used iphone 7 that was T-mobile unlocked off ebay. I had no problems putting in my old SIM card and everything worked perfectly fine. My friend sold me his 11 pro so decided to sell this iphone 7. I then erased all contents/settings through settings and removed the SIM card and put it on ebay to sell. It had the latest ios version 14 at that time.
The guy who bought my phone claims it is still locked when trying to use it in the country Curacao (originally sold it to him in Florida). He claims he has gone to multiple stores telling him it needs to be unlocked in the United States. I do not know if he is telling the truth or not. Did I not properly unlock the phone? Do I need to go through T-mobile for them to unlock it? Are their some restrictions in other countries outside of the US? I thought all I had to do was erase everything through settings on the iphone.
He has since then given me a bad review and wants to return the phone. Well, I accepted the return and was willing to give full refund of the item. It has now been a month and he has not sent the phone back to me and ebay has automatically closed the return process due to no action from him to even attempt to return the phone. It seems like he was trying to scam me, he was very adamant about getting his refund before me receiving the item. He has 100% feedback on ebay after around 150 buys, which makes me think he was telling the truth. Then I also noticed that he has bought other cell phones and assuming he just sells them to people in Curacao to make some money. I think he already sold the phone and is no longer in his possession.
So again (sorry for the long story) did I not properly unlock the phone? I've read mixed things on how to actually do it.
Thanks for reading
