how to protect macbook

i have a question for anyone who have purchased the macbook or macbook pro. when you opened it up the box and took out your laptop did you notice any scratches on it? and if so how would you get rid of them?

I noticed that I have a scratch 'section/patch' area on the right hand side of the Apple logo on the lid of the notebook.

Not entirely sure how I am going to remove them though.

Mine has a slight scuff on the battery cover. It's impossible to know if it was there "out of the box," since the MB was upgraded to 4GB before I saw it. I've ordered a clear plastic skin and I'm going to get a sleeve. Before I apply the skin, though, I'm going to see if I can minimize the scuff with a soft cloth.
