Hello,
My Father-In-Law got an Apple Watch for Christmas and was trying to have is junk Mail folder from his AOL account push and/or fetch to the watch. The only way the folder updates is if he goes into the junk folder on his phone first, then those emails come to the mail app on the phone then they show up in the junk folder on the watch. Thanks for the help!

I think the question here is ... why?
The amount of junk or spam email someone gets most likely grows exponentially the longer the email account has been active along with subscription email notifications from various sources. The nature of such, subscription emails from companies gets hacked more and more every quarter and add to that many emails are guessed by software algorithms leaks your email address for junk/spam.

I can presume there maybe legitimate emails your Father-in-law wishes to access. In that case it’s probably better to create rules in the online portal for AOL account so that emails he wants to view are routed to Inbox or another folder that is enabled for push.

* remember, as I stated with a LOT of junk/spam emails arriving as a mailbox grows older (especially with AOL), it’s going to burn through the Watch battery life quite significantly
