We've developed an iPad application that we need to demonstrate to our client using a recorded session with narration he can download and run from our Web site. What we're looking for is some product, like Techsmith's Camtasia, that will let you record what's happening on the iPad and also let us add narration.

My understanding is that there is no product, like Camtasis, that will record the iPad's screen.

So, what I'm wondering is whether there is a way using AirPlay or other trick to "beam" the iPad's screen to another Mac/PC/whatever, so we could use Camtasia there to record what's on the iPad's screen.

Techsmith's Camtasia works on the Mac/PC, but not, sadly, on the iPad.

Is it possible to record the screen on the iPad without using a "camcorder"

Look forward to any suggestions.

Thanks much in advance.

Not sure how much you're looking to spend but there's the Elgato Game Capture HD device that will let you do this easily. You can record video (and sound) of the app in use on the iPad with it and then edit the movie to add a voiceover (with iMovie, for example). We use it over at TouchArcade and AppShopper for app reviews/overviews. Here's an article over at TouchArcade about how easy it is to use it.
