How to record and capture live stream video

In Australia and want to record football games that come on in the middle of the night. Have snow leopard on MacBook Pro.
 
You could use a screen capture utility such as Screenflow, Screenium, iShowuHD, etc. to capture the video on the screen.
 
Quicktime will do it. But I can't remember if that feature was available in SL or if it is new to Lion.
