How to record "OSX" sounds?

Under Windows (Yeah I know...) you could record anything that's playing, such as a website etc. and record in any app. Is this possible under OSX?

You can try a program called 'Audio Hijack'. It's a demo so you'll be able to record 10 mins for free?

Or you can get a male-male 3.5mm audio cord and plug it from the headphone jack to microphone jack and record it in quicktime pro (if you have it).

Thank you. I have SoundTrack Pro, and I thought I'd be able to do this like I'd do in Windows under Sound Forge, but will give that a try.
