You can use Photo Booth to record with the iSight camera. I found a lot of people asking how to. You don't need any expensive program. Look at the bottom-left corner. There are three buttons right there. Click the one that has two windows and dots on the sides (furthest right of the three). Then click the red button in the center to record. Simple as that.:D
Most people don't know this for some reason. Spread the word! It's amazing what you can do with built in software by apple, if you just look.

And there's Apple quicktime broadcaster. Free and good quality. You have to download it from the apple website.

I can confirm this works on the pre-intel iSight iMacs too. :) (unlike some of the backgrounds in photobooth, which only work on intel models)

It's a really neat little feature, I only just found out about it myself. Prior to this I just used Quicktime Pro.

iMovie

iMovie takes up a LOT of space. Just a few seconds is more than a megabyte. I don't have a clue why.

What can you record? Like rip TV shows and stuff?

No, it's not that sort of recording. You can record video with the iSight webcam. So mostly it's just someone sitting in front of the computer doing... whatever... that you see with these sorts of recordings. Anything you can record with a webcam. With using photo booth, which has loads of little effects, you can get video with that, instead of just still shots. It's a fun little app.
link to a MR guide (which needs updating) someone wrote on it.
