How to recover accidentally discarded file in open office on a mac?

I accidentally closed out of my unsaved file in my open office. No, the program did not crash. I was stupid and I thought it was a different file I had open and I deleted it. I already tried quitting open office and reopening it. It isn't there, I didn't save it. I checked my trash, it isn't there either. I have also went to my search bar to type in untitled 1 and the document that is in there isn't it. Is there a way that I can go through my hard drive and recover an unsaved file or is this not possible because I have a mac? Please tell me I'm desperate for anything right now.
