I am using disk migration on os 10.7 and I wanted to know how I can use disk migration or some other utility to restore my old preference, settings, options like for example when I open up mac mail I would want my old settings back instead of having to reprogram mail for the first time? I tried doing a time machines restore using system restore but I kept getting errors and it would not allow me to restore using my backed up time machine.

No that does not work well cause after rebooting the mac I get a blue screen and nothing more (2+ hours of this) after the gray apple screen.
