How to remotely access my father's Mac

I recently bought my father who is computer-illiterate a mac. I know he will have several questions and i thought that it might be best if I can access his computer remotely to sort out any issues he may have. What are my software options to do this?

Use VNC. Its easy and works well, and you can both use the computer at the same time.

If you're willing to sacrifice some security, you can do it without the extra steps in terminal by opening ports, turning on ARD, and using Chicken of the VNC.
