Hey guys, I recently deleted my McAfee software using AppCleaner. Unfortunately, I forgot to remove the McAfee item from the Task Bar and now cannot remove it.

I readded McAfee but still cannot remove this item. Is there any way of removing it now?

Pearcleaner is the only one I use and it has an Orphan function that might help you out since you’ve already deleted it. This mode scrubs your hard drive for leftover files, launch daemons, etc. There’s also a section that removes logins/startup items.

Good luck!

I had this a while back with an app, and it took a bit of hunting around the various folders in /Library/ and ~/Library/ to find the leftover culprit.

Thanks Guys, so simply installing the app again won't help?
If the app has an uninstaller you can run (versus just trashing it or using Appcleaner) then reinstalling and then running the uninstaller should get rid of it. But not many apps have uninstallers on macOS and unsure if McAfee is one of them.

Don't know what I done, but I opened up McAfee to see if it had an uninstaller and was immediately met with.... the uninstall screen. So I uninstalled and the Task Bar option for McAfee has gone :)

Thanks again for the help lads.
