G geekygeek macrumors regular Original poster Jul 12, 2011 149 1 Sep 3, 2011 #1 Say I saved a file in textedit then a few days later I deleted it. When I launch text edit and when I right click (secondary click) on it it shows the name of my document but I cannot open it. How can I get rid of this?

Have you tried restarting? You could also try quitting TextEdit, then restarting it after deleting this file: /Users/yourusername/Library/Preferences/com.apple.TextEdit.plist
