I am using Sidecar to extend my screen to an iPad.

How do I remove this purple window with person icon that has little function but comes up in many windows being very annoying?

That icon has nothing to do with Sidecar, or at least it shouldn't. Sidecar is basically just extending your screen as if it were another monitor. There's no sharing going on there. That icon doesn't show up for me when I use Sidecar.

The icon should only show when you're sharing a window/app via AirPlay...or a window/app/screen in an online meeting. It'll also show up if an app is recording your screen. Are you doing any of those?

I kept an eye on it and it did not appear again even as I am using sidecar everyday. Yet, I could not figure out back then what app could have possibly caused the icon to appear everywhere. Even today when I screen share a window it does not show up again. So the issue seems solved.

Thanks for the advices regardless!

I get that icon when I share the screen on the Mini that I use as a media server, but it's at the top right corner of the desktop, not on the left side of an application window, like your screenshot. Like BigBlur said, I guess you are just sharing that one window.
