Using the latest edition of iTunes on my iPhone 7 and iTunes 12.5.3.17 on my iMac. I want to remove some songs from the playlist on my Iphone but see no facility to do so.

How to remove songs from iphone playlist?

You need to remove the songs from the playlist in iTunes, then re-sync your iPhone. They will then disappear from your iPhone. Unless the iPhone does things different.
Go to Playlist on your iPhone, tap Edit on top right and you'll see options to delete individual songs.
