how to remove the notifcation number

In my social networking folder it has a number 8 in a red circle

because I have 8 notifications

how do I remove that?

Open the app that has given you the notifications, look at the news/notifications, then exit the app.

or u can go into settings>notifications and disable alerts from the app.
