My new MBP 2011 did arrive this morning, so i want to install my optical drive. There is only one problem, all handouts that i can find are different. Is there any guide available for the MBP 2011 or can someone tell me what i have to do?

It hasn't changed? It's the same as the 2010 model on the insides right?

It's changed very slightly. I did the install on my 13" i7 2011 and did it on the 2010. It's basically the same though.

Remove three screws connecting the DVD drive. There's one less cable now you need to detach. And then speaker area is the major difference. But if you know how to do the 2010 the 2011 should be pretty obvious.

I uploaded a picture marking which screws to look at, let me find it and reup here.

Here's the link to my post with a couple of images.

To get to the final DVD screw (in the top left of the photo in the previous post), you have to loosen / remove several screws holding down the speaker / subwoofer and also the aerial connector next to it. Then move that entire assembly (speaker / subwoofer and also the aerial connector) to the right to reveal the final DVD screw. Make sure you use a magnetised screwdriver and have good lighting!

Why are you removing the optical drive if you just got a brand new '11 mbp?

SSD for the OS / Apps / Windows; Large HDD for docs etc. Makes for very powerful and very fast laptop with huge storage.

OP how are the 'handouts' you found 'different'? Do a search and the site suggested in this thread. Not sure why you are asking for help but when told the layout is the same you say it is different. Kinda going in circles.

FYI I have done the DVD to 2nd HD change in both 2010 and 2011 13". They are the same. OP needs to follow the instructions that is readily available.
