I bought this (eBay link) iPhone 4 LCD screen replacement but before actually sitting down and doing this was hoping for advice concerning how to do this.

Any advice, links or words are highly, incredibly appreciated.

You should get on YouTube and look up instructional videos on how to change it. Sounds like you are a little unsure of yourself. So even if someone posted a detailed list of instructions, you'd be much better off watching a video and doing each step as it is shown. There are a ton of videos out there.

How did the display turn out on this? I need to buy one also but am worried about finding an "OEM" quality one with the actual retina display quality.

It was not difficult. Took about two hours the first time, then fifteen minutes after that now that I knew how. Worked great. Only thing that the screen we got from eBay had the home button lodged which was a pain, but still a better solution than a broken screen. Not hard at all. Felt accomplished knowing I can now disassemble a MacBook, MacBook pro and iPhone. If needed, one day an iPad.
