My Location Services screen in Security & Privacy lists several apps twice, and even apps that are no longer installed. Is there a way I can reset this list? I'd like to start with a clean slate if possible. The guides I've found (such as this one) mention modifying clients.plist in /var/db/locationd, which does not seem to work in Catalina. I get an "operation not permitted" error when trying to copy or modify the file.

I ended up getting my Location Services list cleaned up in a way that doesn't really make sense or intuitive.
  1. I unlocked the preferences pane by clicking the lock in the lower-left corner.
  2. I clicked on the bad/duplicate entries in the list. For example 'Find my Friends' was in the list (which was replaced by 'Find My'). The bad entries just disappeared when I clicked on them.
  3. One entry still remained, Skype for Business, even though it was uninstalled a long time ago. I realized that these entries have a 'Show in Finder' in their right-click/context menu, so I did that on the Skype entry. It went to an Application folder in my Time Machine backup on my NAS. I disconnected from my NAS (temporarily) and repeated step 2 above. Skype for Business is now gone from my list.
Who knew just clicking on the bad entries would clean up the list... 🤷‍♂️ Seems like something the OS could do automatically when pulling the list in.
