What is the formula to get an iPhone 7 to restart if the screen is unresponsive. The power and home button trick that used to work on my 5s and 6 doesn't work on the 7.

On two occasions, my iPhone 7 screen has become unresponsive. The power and home buttons still work, but screen touches have no response. I tried to restart by holding the power button, then pressing and holding the home button, but all that does is bring up Siri. If I continue to hold both, Siri eventually gives up and goes back to the home screen, but evening continuing to hold both will not cause it to reset.

Both times, the screen did start to respond again about 10 mins later.

I think holding only the power button for a while should do it...either the phone automatically restarts or you get the power slider. You could then also hold the home button afterwards which will force stop all running apps.

Please rectify if incorrect...
