how to restore 2g iphone to otb

Hi all hope you can help.

I have my old 2g iphone unlocked using iliberty+. i now want to restore to otb state so it can be used on O2 in the uk. is it just a case of plugging into itunes and hitting restore?? or does it have to be put into DFU mode and then restored? its currently on 1.1.4 so do i have to restore to that first or can i restore it to the newest software version??

apologies if already posted and answered somewhere but couldnt see a clear answer
