OK, here's the issue:

My father is having trouble with his iphoto library. I tried to open his library only to realize he is running iphoto '09 while I run iphoto '08. From what I understand you need to run the version of iphoto that the library is associated with (I tried to open his iphoto library on my computer and it basically told me as much).

Now, I understand that there are serious licensing issues with what I'm about to ask, but please remember that all I'm trying to do is help my father, and then will revert back to iphoto '08 if not just completely delete it (I use aperture 3 for my 20K photo library).

Given that I can't purchase iphoto '09 in a store right now and that iphoto '11 will not do what I need it to (open an iphoto '09 library without modification), I have resorted to this solution as below. Please do not turn this thread into the legality of this operation as it is only a temporary thing to allow me to open my father's iphoto library and help him out. OK, so licensing issues out of the way, here are my issues:

-First, I have converted his applications restore disk to a dmg file that he has sent me over ichat
-Then, I downloaded pacifist to open the mpkg files

My question is:
Do I have to uninstall my version of iphoto before running the mpkg file or can I just run the mpkg file and will it do what it needs to do to install the correct version of iphoto 09 over my iphoto 08. If I do need to uninstall iphoto, how do I do that aside from dragging it to the trash or using a program like appzapper, ie, is there something I'm missing?
