How to restore lost messages

Hi all,

My apologies if this has been discussed elsewhere. Briefly, I have lost all the text messages in one conversation with one person.
To my surprise, iCloud was not on and my iPhone has not been backed up for some months.

Does anyone have any software they can recommend? Or any other tips? I have already called my Telco to no avail.

If they were SMS/MMS messages, there’s no copy elsewhere (backup, another device, or iCloud), and your carrier wasn’t able to help, they’re gone. If they’re iMessages and there’s no copy elsewhere, they’re gone.
