How to restore my mail after clean instal of Snow Leopard?

I have my "mail" folder from Time machine. I tried to copy one email from the prev folder; but it's clearly not that simple as it doesn't show in mail.

any advice?

You need to also copy your "Mail" folder from HD>Users>user>Library.

Edit: My bad, this is why I don't post at 5 in the morning.

So long as you're copying a .emix file to the Mail>POP-user>Inbox.mbox>Messages folder, I see no reason the email shouldn't appear.

Nope.

I created a new email set up. I found the folder where a current email was then copied an old email to that folder. i quit Mail restarted it and still not there. i'm now going to restart the 'puter.

Still doesnt appear in mail. in fact i removed an email from the folder within the Mail folder that is. It still showed in the email. This seems a bit like iPhoto not easy.

So to sum up I have the "Mail" folder copied from Time Machine (users>Library>"MAIL") on my desktop. It seems that the pref file is a clue ...? Any ideas?

How silly do I feel!

Just go to File then import mail boxes ...
choose the folder click import! Now why couldnt someone tell me that instead if me call Apple care and feeling rather silly!
